Services for Joel Ware, 87, a former executive with Rand McNally & Co. and Great Northern Nekoosa Corp. in the Chicago area, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sykesville, Md. Mr. Ware, a onetime Flossmoor resident, died Wednesday in Sykesville. In the early 1950s, Mr. Ware was a vice president and director of Rand McNally, the atlas and map publishers. From the mid-1950s until he retired in 1962, he was the Chicago office manager for Great Northern Nekoosa, a paper company. From 1954 to 1956 Mr. Ware was in Washington as deputy director of the forest products division of the Business and Defense Service Administration, a unit of the U.S. Department of Commerce. In 1951, while working for Rand McNally, he drew up the price-control regulations for the book printing and binding industry that were in force during the Korean War. Mr. Ware retired to Greenwich, Conn., in 1962 and moved to Sykesville in 1981. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son, Joel Jr.; and two granddaughters.
