Mr. Ware retired from Honeywell as a software engineer after 31 years of employment.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a communications officer in the Korean War.
He was a member of the ICS and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and was recognized by the Instrumentation Society of America as a computer control pioneer.
He leaves his wife, Margaret M. Ware; three daughters, Carol Nau, Sharon Hewitt and Denise Landers.; and a son, William E. Ware Jr.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Mary I. Klein.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Tappahannock, Va. A memorial Mass is at noon Wednesday at the church.
