HOLDEN Carolyn M. (Hyldburg) Ware, 72, died Thursday, May 26, 2005 at the Knollwood Nursing Center, Worcester. She was a 21 year survivor of breast cancer.
She leaves her husband of 47 years, Preston Ware Jr.; three sons, Bruce A. Ware, his wife Lisa and their two children, Sarah and Sam of Oakham, Preston Ware III and his wife Julie of West Palm Beach, FL., Andrew T. Ware and his wife Lorraine of Sudbury; three brothers, Frederick of Franklin, Joseph of Tucson, AZ and Robert of Bridgewater. A brother Edward of Burlington, VT predeceased her. She was born in Woburn, daughter of Frederick and Elsie Hyldburg. She graduated from Woburn High School and Mount Auburn School of Nursing in Cambridge. She worked as a registered nurse at Winchester Hospital for a few years before she was married. After her marriage and her children were of school age, she went back to nursing at Holden Hospital. She worked for Holden Hospital for 12 years until 1984 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. During this period she was in charge of the intensive care unit. After her retirement, she was active on the board of directors for the local cancer organization.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ware will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Newton.
