On July 5th, 2016, Alice Fendler departed this world and was welcomed home by her husband, George, who crossed over himself on November 27, 2013. Alice is survived by her daughter, Vicki, son, Ken, both of Bella Vista, granddaughters Brittany and Jessie and nephews Matt and Dan Fendler and niece Lynne Fendler.

Born Clare Alice Ware in Irvington, New Jersey, she married George Fendler in 1947, at the age of 18 and spent the next 63 years with her husband, sharing life in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and finally, in Bella Vista, Arkansas. She will be remembered as a cheerful neighbor, always more comfortable entertaining friends in her kitchen than in the living room.

‘Miss Alice’, as she is known to her caregivers at Fayetteville Health and Rehabilitation and Ashley Health and Rehabilitation before that, always had a smile, a wink, an unexpected, quirky comment and a kiss for everyone.

Alice and George will be laid to rest together at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. A service with honors will be held at 10 a.m., July 22, 2016. All who knew and treasured knowing them are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to make donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
