He was born in McMinn County, Tenn., but had resided in Copperhill since 1928.
Mr. Ware was a member of First Baptist Church of McCaysville, Ga., and retired from the Tennessee Copper Co. An avid golfer, he held a lifetime membership at Copper Basin Golf Club.
He was an active member in community affairs, having served several terms on the Copperhill City Council.
He established one of the first cable TV systems in Tennessee.
He was the son of the late Jesse and Anne Pierce Ware of McMinn county.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Mae Bradford Ware; three sisters; and three brothers.
He is survived by three daughters, Nell Rose Ware, of Copperhill, Doris Jean Perry and husband Edward, of Etowah, Tenn., and Mary Ann McKinney, of Tuscumbia, Ala.; four granddaughters, Ann Pate and husband, Leon, of Cohutta, Ga., Dana Perry, of Nashville, Lea Richardson and husband, Michael, of Decatur, Ala., Jan Rodgers and husband, Tommy, of Nashville; five great-grandchildren, Jordan and Elizabeth Pate, Seth and Cade Richardson and Thomas Rodgers; sister, Martha Ann Sullins and husband, Bill, of Athens, Tenn.; brother, Leonard Ware, of Alcoa, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at noon today from the chapel of Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Garry Barber and the Rev. Harry Gilbert officiating.
Interment followed in Riceville Cemetery with the Rev. Shaun King officiating.
The Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
