DARDANELLE — Thelma Jean McGowan Ware, age 83 of Dardanelle, died Thursday, April 26, 2016 at Conway Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 26, 1933 at Eagle City, Okla., to the late Raymond Earl and Vera Mae McGowan Matthews. She loved sewing, gardening, arts and crafts, reading and cooking for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Rick Shepherd; one daughter, Renee Mayner and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Jerold Ware of Dardanelle; two sons, Bobby Dean Shepherd of Fort Smith, Gerald Kent Ware and wife Jessica of Dardanelle; one stepson, Jerry Ware and wife Marla of Dardanelle; 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The family wishes to say a special thanks to Conway Regional Health System Staff and the Gentiva Hospice Staff for their help and care.
