THERESA WARE 1964-2016 Theresa Grace Page Ware, 52, passed away Oct. 31, 2016. She was born Sept. 8, 1964, in Las Vegas, to Glenn and Theresa Page and the youngest of her siblings, Glenn Jr., Rita, Bobby and Rose. She grew up in the old days of Las Vegas, attending St. Joseph’s Elementary School and Bishop Gorman, class of 1982. She was involved in multiple activities and sports throughout her school years. Following high school, she aspired for college, but found her calling to return to Las Vegas to marry her husband, Gregory Ware, and have their four children, Matthew Ware (Briana), Sarah Lower (Andrew), Emily Robinson (Richard) and Rachel Stephensen (Scott). Her children were her pride, joy and loves of her life. She instilled in them a love of baseball, motorcycles and police work. She even managed to embarrass them with her fingers tap-dancing to the music on the steering wheel when she was their chauffer. She was a devoted mother, adoring each of her children equally and extending her love to her grandchildren, Bailey Burdette, Charlotte Ware, Audrey Ware, Phillip Lower, Everett Ware and Daniel Stephensen. Three years ago, Theresa was a healthy, 49-year-old bailiff, only a few years from retirement. Theresa worked for Clark County in the Traffic Office originally, and as a bailiff/marshal for 24 years. She had a passion for motorcycles and was the first female motorcycle safety instructor in Nevada, sharing this passion with thousands of students for 17 years. Since 2014, Theresa has lived and suffered from ALS, a terminal illness commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The ALS Association describes ALS as a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord where the brain loses the ability to control muscle movement. This disease atrophies muscles at an alarming rate and there is no telling where and when the next effect will take place. Eventually, those with ALS lose all muscle control and are paralyzed while the brain is unaffected. For the past two and one-half years she declined at varying paces. She used to disassemble weapons, tackle convicts, teach motorcycle classes and provide care and support to her children and grandchildren. She has now been claimed by this disease. It was her wish to share her battle in hopes of spreading awareness in hopes of finding a cure. As in all things, Theresa would want to share the positives. Her bright smile and optimism were her most notable traits and she would not wish us to dwell on this sadness. Although ALS inflicted her and caused her passing, we are hopeful she is now with her Savior and thankful this disease did not affect her big heart of which we are all a part. Rosary will be said for the repose of her soul at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89107. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way, Las Vegas, NV 89108. Reception to follow at 1 p.m., at Angel Park Golf Club, 100 S. Rampart Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please honor her generous spirit through a donation to any Las Vegas food bank.
