Carolyn J. (Gilmore) Ware
YARMOUTH — Carolyn J. (Gilmore) Ware went home to be with the Lord on April 5, 2010. She joins her beloved husband, Charles F. Ware, who met her with loving arms. ‘Carol’ was born on June 1, 1933, in Portland, the daughter of Carl E. Gilmore and Mary Louise (Hodges) Gilmore. She attended Portland schools and was a 1951 graduate of Deering High School, where she was a member of the Cadet Corp. and many other groups.
Carol was a member of the WACS Army Corp. and received an honorable discharge.
On Dec. 26, 1954, she married Charles ‘Charlie’ Ware and they made their home together in Yarmouth.
Carol worked as a painter and decorator for ‘Ware Apartments,’ but mostly spent her time as a homemaker. She will be remembered for being a wonderful cook, the hostess of most of the family holiday events, as well as for her flair with fashion. Her greatest passion was gardening. Carol surrounded her yard and her home with many plants and flowers. As soon as spring arrived, including this year, she was out with the birds tending to her flowers. She also loved to travel with her husband enjoying trips across the country, to Canada, and also to Mexico.
She was a member of the Yarmouth American Legion, the Yarmouth Historical Society, and attended the Yarmouth Church of the Nazarene.
Carol was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Charles Ware in 2007; and a brother, Carl E. Gilmore Jr. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Linda J. Jordan of Hampden; a brother, the Rev.
