“A NEW SOCIETY.

Mr. Editor,–Sir,–I would inform you that a number of persons who believe in the doctrine of Universal Salvation, met at Pomfret, April 5, 1828, and organized a Society for the promotion of christian worship, the name of which is ‘The first Universalist Society in Pomfret.’ Chose Harvey Bruce, Clerk,—Luther Goff, Geo. Cheadle, John E. Doten and Harvey Bruce, Committee.—Leonard Ware, Treasurer.—Gilbert Allen, Collector. Twenty came forward at the first meeting; since which time, several others have joined. This Society intend to employ a preacher of the Restoration order, one fourth part of the time the ensuing year.
