ev. Samuel Eugene “Gene” Ware, age 73, of Millers Creek died Friday at his home.
Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park.
Rev. Ware was born December 17, 1930 in Cleveland County to William L. and Lulu Bryte Ross Ware. After serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, he was a police officer in Kings Mountain for 4 ½ years. He then worked for the NC Wildlife Resources Commission for 27 ½ years. He won several awards for expert marksmanship and was a member of the Jr. Order of United American Mechanics. He later worked for Blue Ridge Security and at North Wilkes High School. Mr. Ware was member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church.
A brother, Jimmy G. Ware preceded him in death.
He is survived by: his wife, Margie Lee Allen Ware of the home; two daughters, Barbara Faye Brooks of the home, Nancy Elizabeth Osborne of Millers Creek; two sons, Samuel Ware, Jr. of Moravian Falls, Joseph L. Ware of Millers Creek; one brother, William P. Ware of Charlotte and seven grandchildren.
