“Clinton MO – Died at his residence on East Jefferson Street Tuesday afternoon, Frank Ware, whose genial soul took on the sleep of Death. And the words “Frank is dead”, soon were current over Clinton. That dread malady, rheumatism, with ceaseless encroachments on his vitality, had at last triumphed. He had been uptown just Monday morning, to assist Collector McDonald in the preparation of his papers for the annual settlement with the County Court. But he was feeling so badly, he was forced to return to his home, which he scarcely reached before being stricken down. Alarmed friends immediately summoned Drs. Gibbins, Barr and Britts and until the hour of his death, either or all of them were in constant ministration. The funeral was held at the family residence. He was born in Woodford county, Ky., Dec 3, 1844 and was the second of four children of H. P. and Eliza J. (Watkins) Ware. When he was 8, the family moved to Henry county, Tenn., there residing until 1858, when they moved to Calhoun, where Frank engaged as clerk in an uncle’s store. In 1862, he went to Sedalia and in 1870 came to Clinton where he has since resided. For several years, from 1875 to 1881, he served as deputy collector of Henry county, then was elected collector. He also was bookkeeper in the Salmon & Salmon Bank. Was married September 15, 1881 to Miss Jennie S. Salmon, who, with five children mourn the loss of husband and father. Rest and peace to thee, friend Frank and a tear to thy memory!”
