Judy A. Ware

Judy A. Ware, 71, of Monmouth, Illinois, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Galesburg, Illinois, Cottage Hospital. Born Nov. 2, 1942, in Bloomfield, she was the daughter of Harvey Franklin and Ruth Marcell Bodkins Craig. On Jan. 7, 1962, she married William L. “Bill” “Buggsy” Ware in Ottumwa. Mrs. Ware worked 16 years as manager of the Monmouth American Legion before retiring. She grew up in Ottumwa, where she attended school. In 1961, she graduated from Ottumwa High School. She was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed yard work, flower gardening and time with family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Samantha Ware-Mason of Monmouth, and Sue Ware-Weaver of Galva, Illinois; one son, Rusty Ware of Monmouth; three grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Stookesberry and Dorothy Lemonds, both of Ottumwa; two brothers, Robert Craig of Ottumwa and David Craig of Des Moines; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Family and friends of Mrs. Ware will gather from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory in Monmouth. The body has been cremated. A memorial has been established for Monmouth American Legion.
