Elizabeth Lucille Ware Thornton Obituary, 2007

GREENVILLE – Funeral services for Elizabeth Lucille Ware Thornton, 82, of Warner Robins, Ga., and formerly of Greenville will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home, Greenville. She died July 5, 2007, at Serenity Gate, Heart of Georgia Hospice, Perry, Ga. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery.

Lucille was born July 20, 1924, in Paxton, Ill., to the late William Alex Ware and Nora Bell Atwell Ware. She was a longtime resident of Greenville and Jackson, Miss.; Alvin Texas; and Warner Robins.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, William Alex Ware and Nora Bell Atwell Ware of Greenville; her husband, William Orlando Thornton Jr. of Pass Christian; and her husband, Eddie W. Turner of Jackson.

Lucille is survived by her sons, William Joseph Thornton and his wife, Chris, of Warner Robins, Ga., Robert Orlando Thornton and his wife, Janet, of LaMarque, Texas, Roy Glen Thornton of Gulfport and Charles Lee Thornton and his wife, Theresa, of San Leon, Texas; her daughter, Shirley Annette Thornton of Vicksburg; her stepson, Eddie Turner of Jackson; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Greenville.

The Rev. James Dykes will officiate the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Serenity Gate, Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
