Ware Cemetery, Smith County, Mississippi — 4 Comments

  1. I’m part of the Ware and Abney family. I have lots of photos of the Ware family too, including an old school photo with Marguerite and Clayton in it, looks like early 1900’s.

  2. Winsome Ware, the first female attorney in Louisiana was my great aunt. She was killed in an auto accident in 1929 when she was 30. My grandmother Myrtle Marguerite Ware Wharton, her sister, was in the car with her two children. One was my mother Marguerite Ware Wharton, and the other was was my mother’s brother William Langley Wharton. I would welcome any information about Winsome. Evidently the Ware family moved from Kentucky to Alexandria,Louisiana. Winsome Ware’s father Edwin Oswald Ware, a Baptist minister, with two friends, began Louisiana College, a Baptist college in Pineville, La. which is still a working college.

  3. Eddie, you are right. Photos 3,4 and 5 were accidentally added. The complete list of graves in this cemetery can be found on Ware Cemetery, Smith County, Mississippi in Ware Cemeteries. The grave of Archibald Wade Ware is located in Sharon Cemetery, Coats Simpson County, Mississippi. Mary Piety Ware’s grave is located in Old Good Hope Cemetery, Martinville, Simpson County, Mississippi. The son of Luther Thornton Ware is probably in the Old Good Hope Cemetery as well, because the grave of is father is there.

  4. On this page, several of the 9 pictures of Wares are at another cemetery other than the old Ware cemetery. Where is the larger cemetery located? Thanks
