  1. Those were my maternal ancestors who lived in Jefferson County, AL. George Ware (1780-1841) purchased two tracts of land in the area marked above in 1825 and in 1833. His son, Jeptha McCarty Ware (1822-1901) was a Unionist during the Civil War, hiding out in the woods of Alabama to evade conscription by Confederate patrols. Jeptha was my ggggrandfather, but so far I can’t go any further back than George. I believe George Ware was born in S. Carolina, moved to Tennessee, and finally ended up in Alabama. He was married to a Ruth (unknown maiden name) (1784-1869) born in N. Carolina. Do y’all know anything about either George or his wife, Ruth?

  2. there were a few early Ware family members that migrated from Virginia and South Carolina to Georgia, Alabama and then on into Texas. I would venture to say that this community would reflect one of those. Some research might be in order here for descendents of Ware family members who know that their ancestors lived in this part of the country.
