NEWMAN, Albert Henry: Theological Professor, author and editor. Born at Edgefield Co., South Carolina, U.S.A., Aug. 26, 1852. Educated at Mercer University, Georgia (B.A., In 1871, and M.A., In 1873); Rochester Theological Seminary (B.D., 1875); Graduate Student (Arabic and Greek, etc.), Honorary LL.D. Southwestern Baptist; Honorary D.D., Mercer University; Professor of Church History, Rochester Theological Seminary (1877-81); Baylor University (1901-08); Southwestern Theological Seminary In 1908. Associate editor of American Journal of Theological and Literary Productions. Author: ‘A History of the Baptist Churches In the United States’; ‘A Manual of Church History.’ He Is department editor for church history of the New Schaff Herzog Encyclopedia of religious knowledge; at present, professor of Church History at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Waco, Texas. Married Mary Augusta Ware, of Seale, Ala., July 15, 1873. Address: 609 Dutton St., Waco, Texas, U.S.A.”
