Southwestern Baptist; Honorary D.D., Mercer University; Professor of Church History, Rochester Theological Seminary (1877-81); Baylor University (1901-08); Southwestern Theological Seminary In 1908. Associate editor of American Journal of Theological and Literary Productions. Author: ‘A History of the Baptist Churches In the United States’; ‘A Manual of Church History.’ He Is department editor for church history of the New Schaff Herzog Encyclopedia of religious knowledge; at present, professor of Church History at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Waco, Texas.
