Ellen Ware Noyes Bitzel Obituary, 2005

"Ellen Ware Noyes Bitzel, 79, of Gamber died Wednesday, Jan. 
19, 2005, at her home. Born Jan. 21, 1925, in North Branch,
she was the daughter of the late James B. and Margaret E. 
Ware Noyes. She was the wife of the late Arthur G. Bitzel.
  She was a graduate of Sykesville High School. She was a 
nursing assistant and 
had retired from Springfield Hospital Center. She had been 
very active in the local PTAs when her daughters were in 
school. Baptized at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in 1925,
she was the church's longest standing member. She had been
past president of the Women's Guild. She was the former 
treasurer of Friends of Holy Trinity Cemetery. She was a 
longtime volunteer and friend of the Gamber Fire Department.
She enjoyed many years of horsemanship with the Percheron
Horse Association of America, The Carrollton Hounds and 
the Maryland Draft Horse and Mule Association.
  Surviving are daughters and son-in-law Sue Ellen Bitzel 
Fritz and Ronald E. Fritz of Portsmouth, Va., Margaret Ann 
"Meg" Bitzel Smith of New Windsor and Elizabeth Ware Bitzel 
of Louisville; brother James B. Noyes of Marriottsville; 
grandchildren Randolph P. Fritz of Santa Barbara, Calif., G. 
Neil Parish of Union Bridge and Justin A. Bitzel of Louisville; 
and great-grandson A. Lyle Parish of Union Bridge.
  She was predeceased by her siblings, Henry Fite Noyes and 
Josephine Noyes Hush.
  Funeral services were held on Saturday at St. Barnabas
Episcopal Church in Sykesville with the Rev. Earl Mullins 
officiating. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 
c/o 7609 Main St., Sykesville, MD 21784 or to Friends of 
Holy Trinity Cemetery, c/o Ross Brooks, Treasurer, 7533 Ridge 
Road, Marriottsville, MD 21104.
  Arrangements were made by Haight Funeral Home and Chapel in 
Sykesville."
