Margaret Boman Jennings, Obituary, 2002

"Mrs. Margaret Bowman Jennings, beloved mother and wife,
83, of Carolina Meadows, died Wednesday.  She was born 
in Pineville, Kentucky, on September 16, 1918 to the late
Claude Eugene and Lucy Ware Bowman.
     In 1939-1940, she attended the Northwestern University
School of Commerce.  Soon after she worked as an Executive
Secretary for the 
Standard Oil Company in Chicago.  On December 19, 1942, 
she married Sion D. jennings.  After a lenghty separation
during his service in World War II, they moved to North 
Carolina in 1948.
    In Durham, she was employed as an Executive Secretary
at the American Tobacco Company.
    In 1953, she and her husband started Chapel Hill Tire 
Company on West Franklin Street where she worked as a bookkeeper.
    In 1962, she assisted her husband in starting Triangle
Mortgage 
Corporation and provided all administrative support until 
he retired in 1986.
    In addition she worked closely with other family members 
in the formation and success of Fearrington Self-Storage, 
SYSGEN, and Management Style.
    She was a member of Yates Baptist Church in Durham, NC, 
where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher.  
She led a Girl Scout Troop during her daughter's formative 
years.
    Her husband, Sion D. Jennings, died in 1996 after 52 
years of marriage.  Mrs. Jennings is survived by her 
daughters, Jacqueline Jennings Lambertsen of Chapel Hill, 
NC and JoAnne Yvars of Mount Pleasant, SC; her grandchildren, 
Elizabeth Jennings Stewart, Lauren Bowman Stewart and Rayna 
Arleen Yvars, all of Mount Pleasant; her brother; Donald Burke 
Bowman of Aiken, SC and her sister, Gladys Robinette of 
Pineville, KY; Mary Helen Glovier of Clinton, TN and Claudine
Eve McGowan of Buffalo Grove, IL.
    Graveside services were held Sunday in Milton Cemetery,
Milton, TN.
    The family received visitors in Tennessee, Saturday 
night at Woodfir Funeral Home in Murfreesboro, TN.
    Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may 
be made to the Animal Protection Society of your community."
