“RICHLAND, Wash. – Aileen Ware, 86, of Hermiston died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Wash. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Hermiston Christian Center. A private family burial will take place at the Hermiston Cemetery.
Mrs. Ware was born Sept. 1, 1922, in Wichita, Kan., to Guy and Ruth (Cross) Wertz. She was raised in Kansas and graduated from Mound Valley High School in 1940. She married Cecil Ware in 1940 in Mound Valley. They moved to Stanfield in 1945.
She went to work for Sears Roebuck in Hermiston in 1959 as the credit manager in the catalog office, retiring in 1979. After retirement she volunteered for six years at the Hermiston Christian School.
Mrs. Ware is survived by son Leonard Ware (another son, John Alan Ware, has been missing in action in Vietnam since 1969); sister Phyllis Smith of Parsons, Kan.; brother Tom Terhune of Grand Junction, Colo.; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Ware, on their 52nd wedding anniversary in 1992; and by a brother and sister.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hermiston Christian Center School.
