“Andrew Jackson Ware was born the son of Squire Lancaster Ware and Julia Ann Stormes Ware. The Ware family Bible listed his birth given name as Cornelius Jackson. However, because he disliked the name Cornelius he change it to Andrew. He signed documents as A. J. Ware. On December 8, 1869 he married Willie E. Huffman of Garrard County, Kentucky.

The marriage lasted less than three years before her death on July 4, 1872 of tuberculosis, a common cause of death at the time. Before her death she gave birth to one son, Albert Lee Ware. On December 8, 1873 he married Sarah Elizabeth Teater, the daughter of a wealthy Garrard County landowner. They later moved to adjoining Jessamine where he lived until his death. Three sons were born to this union: Luther Jefferson Ware, Melvin Ware, and Edgar Ware.”
