Darley B. Ware Obituary, 2007

“Darley B. Ware, 84, a resident of Valley Head, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, in Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.

He was born May 18, 1923, a son of the late Dixie Harland and Alice Mary Channell Ware.

He had never married.

Mr. Ware had made his home with his brother and niece, Grady Ware and Mary Alice McAtee of Valley Head.

He is also survived by a brother, Dixie Monroe Ware and wife, Genia, of Tallmadge, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Also preceding him in death were brothers, Delbert H. Ware, Richard Paul Ware and Jeremiah B. Ware; two infant brothers; and three sisters, Nellie G. Ware, Elva A. Ware McAtee and Reta P. Ware Swecker.

Mr. Ware was a farmer and a shepherd and received several awards. He received the following achievement awards: 1976 Progress Award of Farmers‚ Home Administration of Randolph County, 1978 Progress Award of Sheep Farming of Randolph County; 1979 Progress Award West Virginia Highland Project; 1990 Farmers‚ Recognition Award and the 1990 West Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Award. Darley loved sheep farming and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was devoted to his family and to his Lord and Savior, his God.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Terry A. Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in Valley Head Cemetery. Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Darley B. Ware.
