“Charley Henry Ware was born November 18, 1895, in Cleburne, Texas (Johnson County), the youngest of at least nine children born to Arthur Henry Ware (1859-1900) and Nancy E. Jones. His siblings included: John F., Balley Ruth, Mary Estella, Bessie M., Arthur Henry, Henry, Algin T., and George.
In 1910, he lived with his mother and stepfather, Henry W. Hoskinson, in Wray, Oklahoma (Jefferson County). The household included: Henry W. Hoskinson, age 46, a farmer, born in England; Nancy E, age 49, born in Kentucky; his step brothers Elmer, age 16, Lee, age 13, and Clyde, age 11; and his brother Algia T., age 17.
Charley registered for the World War I draft on June 5, 1917 in Wray, Oklahoma. In his registration, he stated he was of medium height and weight, grey eyes, and light hair. He was employed as a farm laborer and had his mother as a dependent. He died six months later on December 12, 1917, of pneumonia while in boot camp at Camp Bowie, Texas (Tarrant County) and was buried in Lexington Cemetery.”
