Effie Lee Ware Obituary, 1977

“Effie Lee Ware, 62, of 616 E. 4th, died at 3 p.m. Friday in her residence.

Born Oct. 13, 1915, in Florence, Ala., she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Koger.

She was a retired employee of Lima Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Mary) Davis of 1093 S. Sugar, a son, Alex Cole of 616 E. 4th; stepmother, Norella Key of Florence, Ala.; foster mother, Annie Drester of Florence Ala.; two brothers, Jack Ragland of 515 Holmes and Peter Key of Florence, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. James (Louise) Pace of 1141 S. Sugar and Mrs. James (Ella) Minor of Florence, Ala.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Philippian Missionary Baptist Church and senior usher board of the church. Mrs. Ware was a member and past matron of Phillis Wheatley Lodge 19, Order of Eastern Star of International Masons; member of Amaranth Chapter-Lillian Gill, Heroines of Jericho, Lady Knight Templars, Joan of Arc Lodge 11, Lily of the Valley 23 and Isis of Sphinx. She was vice president of the City Joint Council of OES and Masons.
