James Allen Ware, 70, of Cleveland, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 5, 2007, at SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland after a courageous fight with lung cancer and emphysema.

He is now happy and at peace at home with his heavenly Father. He was a native of the Claxton community near Etowah and was a current resident of Cleveland. He was born June 4, 1936, to the late Olin Francis and Margaret Brewer Ware of Etowah. He was an active member of Philippi Baptist Church until his illness, and was a member of the Cleveland Gun Club and the Masonic and Scottish-Rites Lodge. He was a maintenance supervisor at Burlington Industries and worked at Olin Chemical in Charleston for 32 years. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dan Ware; and one granddaughter, Hilary Ware. He was a loving father and grandfather.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Wilma Jean Ware of Cleveland; three children and their spouses, Rhonda and Randall Jenkins, Jay and Carla Ware and Jeff and Jennifer Ware; six living grandchildren and three spouses, Jennifer and Brian Arp, Meredith and Josh Herring, Samantha and Josh Hyde, Olivia Ware, Abigail Ware and Madison Ware; and three great-grandchildren, Hailey Arp, Chandler Arp and Paisley Herring.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Hooker and Minister Randall Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery, and will conclude with the White Dove Liberation Ceremony.

Pallbearers will be John Elliott, Denny Collins, Brian Arp, Dudley Johnson, Josh Herring and Josh Hyde. Ken Elliott will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.
