Mary Fairfax Ware died recently in Venice, Calif. Mary was born July 14, 1939 the daughter of the late Mary McCallie Ware and the late Captain Robert L. Ware, Medical Corp, USN.
Her brother, Robert L. Ware of Greeneville, S.C. and several nephews and nieces survive her. As a granddaughter of the late Spencer J. McCallie Sr. she had a number of close relatives in the Chattanooga area.
Mary received her BA degree from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, and her Masters degree from the University of California, Berkley. She served in the U.S. Peace Corps from 1964 to 1967. Prior to her retirement in 2000 she was a member of the faculty of Southwest Los Angeles Community College for 31 years. At the time of her death Mary was a deacon in St. John’s Presbyterian Church, West Los Angeles, Calif.
There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday June 5, 2010, at Forest Hills Cemetery the Rev. Joel Treick officiating. Arrangements are by Wann Funeral Home.
