“Thomas “Tommy” Ware was the second son of Ira Leown Ware and Eva Gladys Coons Ware and was born in Minnesota. Tommy joined the army and was with the 1st Cavalry in Texas when called to ship out and died in WWII 7 March 1944 on Los Negros Island while on patrol. Tommy was awarded the Silver Star posthumously on August 28 1944 for gallantry in action. Tommy’s body was brought back for burial May 14 1949 for a military funeral at Greenville cemetery, in Plumas County California. He was survived by his siblings Vernon Ware, Edith Ware Davis, Darlene Ware Graham and Janice Ware Grifall.
Tommy’s name was placed on a memorial plaque in front of the courthouse in Quincy, California.”
