“Mrs. Vera Eloise Ware, age 61, of West Point, died Sunday, November 16 at Clay County Medical Center. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 18 at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Hamblin officiating. Special music was provided by Mrs. Beth Beckham, Mrs. Joy White and Miss Debbie Hampton.
The daughter of the late Vert Marshall and the late Ada Logan, she was born in Calhoun County and had lived in West Point since 1943. She was a seamstress for Big Yank and earlier at Knickerbocker. She was the widow of the late George W Ware.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Bobbie Sue Reid of Jackson; two sons, Donald Ware and Durwood Ware, both of West Point; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Young of West Point; one half-sister, Mrs. Lillian Collier of West Point; one brother, Ellis Marshall of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one half-brother, Billy Marshall of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Larry Joe White, Robert Thompson, Wayne Crosswhite, Bud Young, James Young and Charles Kent. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. T N Braddock, Dr. R T Lott, Dr. Edmund A Miller, Jr., Jim Darby, Claude Keller and all her friends at Big Yank.
Calvert Funeral Home, Inc. of West Point was in charge of arrangements.”
