WALLINGFORD – Calvin Ernest Ware, 84, of Wallingford, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Masonicare Health Center Hospice Unit in Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Le Blanc Ware. He was born in Providence, R.I., Dec. 27, 1926, and was a U.S. Army veteran. After the war, he worked as a police officer in Providence before moving to Wallingford and working as a security guard at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven, where he retired after 35 years. He was a member of the Wallingford Senior Center, the Connecticut Chiefs of Police Association and served as a lieutenant for the East Wallingford Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his daughters, Donna M. Smith, of Meriden and Donna Jean Ware, of Virginia; his son, Gary W. Ware, of Meriden; his 10 grandchildren, Kristi L. Smith, Jason R. Smith, Tyler A. Ware, Donna M. Beasley, Elizabeth Burgert, Jonathan Guzauskis, Renee J. Cannady, Joseph S. Ware, Crystal Ware and Calvin W. Ware Jr.; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandson. He was predeceased by his son, Calvin W. Ware Sr. Mr. Ware’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Sunday, July 10, from 2 until 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to the Church of the Resurrection, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
