Bertha K. Ware, 87, of State Street Road died Tuesday at an Auburn nursing home. Mrs. Ware was a native of Port Byron. She retired in 1970 after 41 years as a teacher in the Port Byron school system. Mrs. Ware was a graduate of Oswego Normal School. Her husband, Donald, died June 27. Mrs. Ware was a member of Port Byron United Methodist Church, New York State Retired Teachers Association, Daughters of the American Revolution and Alpha Mu Chapter of the International Society of Delta Kappa Gamma, a society of woman educators. Surviving are a niece, Lila Fields of Weedsport, and two grandnieces. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Audioun Funeral Home, the Rev. Marsha King officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 234 N. Main St. Contributions may be made to charity.
