Gerald B. Ware, 87, Route 2, died at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Nursing Home, Massena, where he had been a resident for two months. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hammill Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Hart officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 this evening and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Tri-Town Rescue Squad or the West Stockholm United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Surviving are his wife, Grace; two sons, Cary, Winthrop, and Carson, Massena; three stepsons, Kermit Dyke, Mitchell, Ind., Keith Dyke, Massena, and Warren Dyke, Brasher Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Coralee) Wallen, Red Hook; 19 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A son, Carlton, died in 1970, and a grandson, Edward, died in 1987. Born in Stockholm on March 30, 1903, a son of Orlo and Cora Munson Ware, he attended local schools. He married Grace Moulton Dyke on July 22, 1943, at the United Methodist Church parsonage, Brasher Falls, with the Rev. Lysle B. Caldwell officiating. Mr. Ware served with the Army Air Corps during World War II and was later employed with Alcoa in the remount department for 23 years. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Skinnerville for 40 years, retiring in 1967. He was a member of the West Stockholm United Methodist Church.
