Jack Ware Obituary, 2008

Jack Ware of Rockport, passed away October 24th at the age of 85. Born in Sabinal, TX, he graduated from Sabinal High School and was a member of the first graduating class of Southwest Texas Junior College. After proudly serving his beloved America as a flight instructor with the rank of 1st Lieutenant, United States Army, during World War II, he attended Baylor University and graduated in 1951 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree. His career included Vice-Presidency of Coastal Gas Producing Company in Corpus Christi from its earliest days until he retired from there in the late sixties. He returned to ranching in Zavala County, opened a law office in Uvalde, owned several automobile agencies in the area and retired to Rockport in 1997. He loved the game of golf and the game of gin. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 943 of Sabinal, 32nd degree Scottish Rite and a Shriner.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Jodie, sister Fannie Mae (Lloyd) Chambers, daughter Sherry (Robert) Brown, son Russell (JoAnn) Ware, son Allen Ware, son Felix (Caris) Ware, daughter Rebecca (Ashley) Taylor, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 31st, at First United Methodist Church, Rockport, followed on Saturday by a Masonic Burial Ceremony at 1:00 p.m., Waresville Cemetery in Utopia, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Restoration Fund, First United Methodist Church, 301 N. High Street, Uvalde, TX 78801; Aransas County Medical Service, P.O. Box 821, Rockport, TX 78381; AIM Hospice, P.O. Box 2300, Rockport, TX 78381 or the charity of one’s choice.
