Mary Jane Ware passed away after a brief illness at Swedish Hospital with family and friends at her bedside. Mary Jane graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas and Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was captain of the field hockey team. After graduation Mary Jane worked for a short time at Duke University, and then returned to Dallas where she worked at Taylor Publishing Company before moving to Seattle where she was employed in the medical records department at several Seattle hospitals until retirement in her 70’s. She is survived by a brother Dr. Elgin Ware of Dallas and his wife Karen and family, cousins Dr. Robert Allman of Port Angeles, Robert Allman, John Allman, Julie Allman, and Becky Allman of Seattle, Mrs. Jane Wetzel and family of Dallas, and Pierce Allman and wife Allie Beth and family of Dallas. Mary Jane was a stalwart character who lived a long life under a number of adverse circumstances. She loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker and a published poet. She will be missed by her family and by her many friends in Seattle. A special thanks to the staff of Swedish Hospital, Queen Ann Manor, Heritage House, Partners in Care and to her close friend and companion Rev. Tina Barbaro-Polis and her husband William. A celebration of her life will be held in early September in the mountains as songs are sung and poetry read with Rev. Tina Barbaro-Polis officiating.
