William Ware Jr. Obituary

William H. Ware Jr., 78, formerly of Fort Thomas, passed away June 29, 2015, at the Hospice House in Bowling Green.

Bill graduated from Highlands High School in 1954 and graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1959 with a degree in business administration. Bill was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Newport, was a past member of the Fort Thomas Independent School District Board of Education and a past member of the Campbell County Jaycees. Bill worked for the Union Central Life Insurance Co., then later with Inter-Ocean Insurance Co. and eventually retired from Cincinnati Financial Corp. 16 years ago where he served as a Certified Life Underwriter. Bill was an ardent Bluebird supporter and a lifelong UK fan but he also loved to travel to other big sporting events that included the Super Bowl, Rose Bowl, LLWS, CWS, Triple Crown horse races, the U.S. Open, Wimbledon, the Army/Navy game and he had visited every SEC football stadium. He loved the Cincinnati Pops concerts and the patriotic concerts of the Boston Pops. But his pride and joy came from traveling to support all the academic and athletic endeavors of his grandchildren at Greenwood and Boyle County High Schools, UK, WKU, EKU and Hanover College.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Laurie (Joe) Conley of Bowling Green and Julie (Jack) Jones of Danville; and his grandchildren, Meredith (Michael) Hopper of Lexington, William “Cory” Jones of Greensburg, Ind., Ryan Jones of Danville, Patrick Conley of Nashville and Will Conley and Brian Conley of Bowling Green. Bill is also survived by his special friend and companion, Elaine Williamson of Fairfield, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Fort Thomas Education Foundation, PO Box 75090, 28 N. Fort Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, KY 41075; Hospice House, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104 and the athletic programs at Greenwood High School, c/o Nick Lowe, 5056 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104 or Boyle County High School, c/o David Morris, 101 Citation Drive, Suite C, Danville, KY 40422.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Newport. Funeral ceremony will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Newport. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate.
