Frances Ware Huls Obituary, 2001

CHADRON, Neb. – Frances Ware Huls, 85, formerly of Ottawa, died July 4, 2001. Memorial services were July 10 at Greenwood Cemetery, Chadron.

She was born Dec. 16, 1915, to William Chase and Etta Jane Ware in Larned She grew up in Larned and then attended the University of Kansas, receiving a degree in journalism in 1957. She married Donald S. Huls on Jan. 30, 1938, in Lawrence. He died Jan. 30, 1999.

She lived in Ottawa from 1938 to 1957 where her husband was editor of the Ottawa Herald. She purchased with her husband the Chadron Record in 1957. She later received her teaching certification and masters degree and taught high school before retiring in 1975.

She is survived by a daughter Cindy Gorr, Sammamish, Wash.; two sons, F.D. Huls, Chadron, and David Huls, Redmond, Wash.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Ottawa Friends of the Library. Chamberlain Chapel, Chadron, was in charge.
