Minnie Ann Ware, age 92 of Elsinboro, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in her home with her family by her side.
Born in Quinton, she was the daughter of the late William & Minnie (Jaquette) Willis.
Minnie grew up on a farm in Quinton Twp. where she worked tirelessly in the fields alongside her sisters picking bugs off of tomato plants by hand. Minnie attended the Salem City Schools through the 12th grade. She married the late Preston R. Ware in 1937 and remained married to him for 62 years before his passing in 1999. In 1941, Minnie & Pres purchased their farm, and it has been their homestead ever since. The farm has been a source of pride and joy for Minnie and her family for many years. Minnie helped out in the fields until her sons were old enough to take on some responsibility, and then she took over doing the book work (accounting) and payroll for the farm.
Minnie loved her family. She has been very supportive in attending games, matches, events, and activities that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have been involved in. For many years, Minnie was a fixture at Woodstown High School sporting events where she watched her late son, Clinton, coach football and her son, Lee, coach baseball.
Minnie has been active in her church, The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) for many years. She was also a member of the Fenwick Grange #20, the Salem County Historical Society, and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her son, Lee R. Ware and his wife, Patti; daughter-in-law, Barbara Ware; grandchildren, Traci Bell, Stephen Ware, Holly Land, Jaclyn Muterspaugh, and Richard Ware; great-grandchildren, Alan Campbell, Douglas Bell, Jake Ware, Sienna and Brett Land, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Minnie was predeceased by her husband, Preston; son, Clinton; father and mother, William and Minnie Willis; and sisters and brothers, Olive Harris, Bernice Hogate, Violet Rhubart, Dorothy Crispin, Hartley Willis, and Melvin Willis.
Graveside services will be held at Noon Monday, December 14th in the Salem Friends Cemetery, Broadway, Salem, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Rd., Suite 260, Ambler, PA, 19002, or to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
