WARE, Australia “Red” – Of Mt. Morris, age 71, crossed the finish line to a better life on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. With such a passion for racing, he became a Stock Car Legend. Memorial service will be held at 7PM Thursday, May 4, 2006 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Jered Miller officiating. Visitation 6PM until the time of the service at 7PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Australia was born in Toadsuck, Arkansas on December 7, 1934 and was a resident of the Mt. Morris area most of his life. Serving in the U.S. Army he fought in the Korean War at Pork Chop Hill. Red earned several metals including two Purple Hearts, Silver Star and Bronze Star. Surviving are children, Angelina Miller, Judy Lynn Burch, Edith Gregson, Dorothy Cobb and Donald King; sisters, Judith Raymond and Gratis Cook. Also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his friend and caregiver, Rick Miller. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and beloved pet, “Juno”.
