Died 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 1995, at her residence. She was 78, born Oct. 10, 1916, in Columbus, Ohio, a 28-year resident of Covington and for the last year a resident of Whealdon Estates Retirement Residence, Baton Rouge. She was a homemaker. Visiting at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington, 11 a.m. until religious services in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Gene Finnell. Interment in Theadore Dendinger Cemetery, Madisonville. Survived by husband of 55 years,Francis Andrews Schurtz; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Francis Andrews Schurtz Jr, Hollywood, Fla., and Michael Henry Schurtz and Cherry McCraine Schurtz, Baton Rouge; two daughters and sons-in-law, Delores Schurtz Stokes and Daniel Joseph Stokes, Covington, and Deborah Schurtz Simpson and David Gregg Simpson, Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren, Francis Andrews Schurtz III, Kirsten Schurtz Palmer, Sarah Margaret Schurtz, Daniel Joseph Stokes Jr., Schoen Matthew Stokes, Tyler Ware Stokes, Timothy William Stokes, Joshua David Simpson, Todd Andrew Simpson and Lucas William Simpson; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Garrett Palmer and Macon McCraine Palmer. Preceded in death by parents, William Henry and Alta Davis Ware, Pike County, Ohio; a sister, Irene Ware Scatterday, Westerville, Ohio; and a son, Timothy Ware Schurtz, Covington. She was a 1938 honor graduatae of Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of American Association of University Women, First United Methodist Church, Covington and the Tchefuncta Garden Club, Covington.
