Chief Petty Officer Sim A. Ware Obituary, 2014

Retired U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Sim A. “S.A.” Ware entered into rest on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Charlie Norwood V.A. Medical Center, Augusta. He was 82 years old.
Mr. Ware, son of the late Sim B. and Mary Wilma Bradford Ware, was a native of Wilkes County, served in the U.S. Navy then in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict, and went on to retire as a Chief Petty Officer. During his career, he traveled all over the world. Following his retirement he enjoyed vacationing, which always included taking his grand- daughter with him. He was a die-hard dirt track and NASCAR fan, was a fair-weather Braves fan, and never met a stranger. He was a member of Fidelity Lodge 304 F&AM, Johns Island, S.C.
Mr. Ware was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Joyce Biffle Ware. Survivors include his daughter, Lisa (Benjie) Grimaud, of Tignall; son, S.A. “Alec” (Paula) Ware Jr., of Cashiers, N.C.; brothers, Gary Ware, of Wadley, Johnny Ware, of Athens, and Norris Ware, of Washington; sister, Joan McKinney, of Hephzibah; grandchild, Nicole Grimaud; and great-grandchildren, Juli and Riley Grimaud.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 8, at Independence United Methodist Church, Tignall, with the Rev. W.C. Bentley officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, with military honors and Masonic rites. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
