
Homer J. Ware, 80, of Freeport, died Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Kindred Hospital, Sycamore. Born August 10, 1933, in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of William and Margaret (Claffey) Ware. He married Irma McElroy August 18, 1956, in Milo, Iowa; she died January 9, 2013. Homer was a Freeport business owner of HJ Ware Photography and Frame & Art. Homer was a member of Freeport Jaycees (President 61-62); Rotary International (President 84-85); Malcolm Eaton Board (President 01-02) and a board member of Ducks Unlimited. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping at Apple Canyon Lake. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Surviving are his sons, Bill (Jody) Ware of Mundelein, Micheal (Geraldine) of Shullsburg, WI., Gregory Ware of Freeport; daughters, Mary M. Ware of Freeport, Jenice (Mark) Jacobs of Cedarville, and Julie (Jon) Pick of Rockford; special family friend, Melinda Fruth; sister, Joan (Eldon) McElroy of Indianola, IA; 12 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Homer was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irma; daughter, Carolyn; and sister, Patricia (John) Hoblock. Cremation rites have been accorded. Entombment of his cremated remains will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name to benefit the Pay-It-Forward House at Kindred Hospital.
