GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Ruby Ware Slade, 59, of Purvis and formerly of Greenville, a registered nurse, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Greenville. She died may 23, 2009, at Wesley Medical Center, Hattiesburg. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville. Smith Funeral Home, Greenville, has charge of arrangements.

Ruby was born Nov. 21, 1949, in Greenville to Robert and Dorthy Ware. She was a lifelong resident of Greenville until moving to Purvis in 2008. She grew up in Greenville, where she attended school and graduated Greenville High School. She went on to attend nursing school and was employed as a registered nurse until ill health forced her to retire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorthy Ware; her husband, Edgar Slade, in 1997; and her brother, Doug Ware.

She is survived by her son, Joseph (Misty) Slade of Brandon; two daughters, Barbara (Jim) Lutz of Fairhope, Ala., and Natalie Slade of Purvis; three brothers, Michael Ware and Melton Ware, both of Greenville, and Paul Ware of El Dorado, Ark.; three sisters, Peggy Putnam of Hattiesburg, Charity Ellis of Black Hawk and Nancy Evans of Little Rock, Ark.; and three grandsons, Dalton Slade, Slade Lutz and Austin Lutz.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.

The Rev. Anthony McDonald will officiate the services.
