Samuel M. Ware, age 70, died Monday at 1:30 am of pneumonia.
He was the eldest son of Mrs. Elizabeth Ware and the late Johnson Ware.
Mr. Ware was born during the War Between the States, December 11, 1862, and was a life-long resident of Jackson County.
He was for many years justice of the peace in Beat 5, and was considered well-versed in the law.
The funeral was held at the Mt. Pleasant church, services being conducted by Rev. E.D. Simpson, pastor of the Methodist church, assisted by Rev. R.L. Vaughn, Baptist minister, and Rev. A.G. Miller, pastor of the Latter Day Saint church.
Interment was made in the church-yard cemetery.
Besides the aged mother, the deceased leaves two brothers, and three sisters, J.P. Ware, J.J. Ware, Mrs. J.F. Reilly of Escatawpa, Miss Ella Ware of Hattiesburg and Miss Lizzie Ware of Vancleave, also a number of nieces and nephews.
Six of the nephews acted as pallbearers; J.F. Reilly, Jr., of Gulfport, Ralph Reilly of Escatawpa, Roland, Lawrin, Fred, and Phil Ware of Vancleave.
