Dorothy B. Ware

63, of R.R. 1, Jacksonville, formerly of Springfield, died Tuesday at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

She was born Feb. 23, 1927, near Chapin, the daughter of Albert H. and Nora Weber Bartelheim. She married Claude R. Ware in 1965 in Litchfield. He died in 1983. Mrs. Ware was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, the church’s Mission Society, president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and was active in the Care and Share Group.

She was a member of the King’s Daughters of Springfield, Springfield and Morgan County Garden Clubs, Jacksonville Woman’s Club, Christian Women’s Club, Point West Home Extension Group of Jacksonville, Passavant Hospital Auxiliary, Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, Morgan County Republican Women, Chapter IO of PEO, and president of West Central Illinois Lady Landowners. She was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Springfield, and later was secretary to the state director of Selective Service in Springfield.

Mrs. Ware is survived by three stepsons, Richard, Jon and William Ware, all of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Virgil H. Bartelheim of Jacksonville and Norman E. Bartelheim of Beardstown; and one half brother, Leland A. Bartelheim of Redondo, Calif.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Mackville Cemetery in Atwood. Cody and Son Memorial Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.
