Esther Hibbert Schmidt-Ware Obituary, 2006

Esther H. Schmidt-Ware (nee Hibbert), 92, of Southampton Estates died peacefully Friday, July 14, 2006 after a brief illness. Esther was born and raised in Philadelphia. She graduated from West Phila HS and worked as a bookkeeper until she married Charles D. Schmidt. During World War II, Esther worked in a munitions plant making small round aluminum parts. She was the mother to three children and with her husband Charles operated a sundry and ice cream store in West Philadelphia in the 1950’s. Charles died in 1957 and in 1960 she married Seybert (Steve) Carlton Ware. Together they moved the sundry and ice cream business to Lester, PA and added hoagies. Esther was a devout member of the Episcopal Church. She enjoyed meeting people, sewing, knitting, needlepoint, reading books, reading the daily newspaper and fried oysters. She was a rabid sports fan and loved her Flyers, 76’ers and Eagles. Esther was predeceased by her mother Emily Norman Hibbert, her father John Thomas Hibbert; and sisters Mae Hibbert, Ethel Hibbert, Emily Hibbert Bowman; and brothers John Thomas Hibbert, Jr., and Walter Hibbert and her daughter Evelyn Esther Schmidt, RN. She is survived by her son Charles Daniel Schmidt, Jr., his wife Charlotte (Richboro, PA) and their son Charles Daniel Schmidt III; and her son Walter David Schmidt, his wife Jean (Chula Vista, CA) and four children Dawn, Grant, Kimberly, and Walter Jr. Funeral services are private.
