Elvin Clutch Ware was the son of Franklin “Frank” Clutch Ware and Ola Barbara Clawson.

On 2 May 1943 he married Mary Ellen Shelton in Maryville, Missouri. They had the following children: Franklin, Elvin Jr., Mike, Ikey, Darlene, Mary Elizabeth, Phyllis Ann, Rita Marie and Donna E. Ware.

Elvin passed away 11 Jan 1973 in Barnard, Missouri and was buried in the Barnard Masonic-IOOF Cemetery in Barnard, Missouri.
