Charles P. Ware Obituary, 1992

Charles P. Ware of Meridian, Miss., retired field representative with the Social Security Administration, died Thursday morning at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was 74.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian with burial in Magnolia Cemetery there.

One of his sons, Scott Ware, is vice president and executive editor of the San Juan Star newspaper in Puerto Rico and will become its editor Jan. 1. He began his career with The Commercial Appeal in 1975 and was night managing editor before moving to San Juan last year.

Another son, Clay Dobbs Ware, has worked in the engraving department of The Commercial Appeal since 1987.

Ware, a member of Highland United Methodist Church, was a World War II Army veteran. He was born in Atlanta and moved to Meridian in 1959.

He also leaves his wife, Alice Ware; a daughter, Virginia May of Meridian; three other sons, Mike Ware, David Ware and Doug Ware, all of Meridian; two sisters, Louise Rogers of Alexandria, La., and Jean Parker of Atlanta; a brother, Joseph Ware of Pensacola, Fla., and eight grandchildren.
