John A. Ware Obituary, 1997

John A. Ware of Hull, formerly of Dorchester, a compositor for The Boston Globe, died yesterday at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 73.

Born in Boston, he attended St. Mark’s School and English High School.

Mr. Ware served in the Seabees with the Navy during World War II.

He was a compositor at the Globe for 37 years.

Mr. Ware was a member of the Boston Typographical Union and Amvets McKeon Post 146 in Dorchester. He was an avid sports fan.

Husband of the late Mary H. (McCarthy), Mr. Ware is survived by a brother, Paul of Milton; three sisters, Alice Gillon of Stoughton, Irene Duff of Dorchester, and Barbara DiVito of Hull; and 21 nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ann’s Church, Hull.

Burial will be in Hull Village Cemetery, Hull.
