SPRINGFIELD Langdon A. Ware, 83, of 414 Chestnut St., a retired employee for Smith & Wesson, died Thursday at Baystate Medical Center. He also worked for Hamilton Standard and the Springfield Armory. Born in Worcester, he lived in this area since 1931. He attended schools in Whitenville. He attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Carl L. Talbot Post 6189, the American Legion Post 21, the Urban League’s foster parent program and a school bus monitor for the Springfield school system. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He leaves his wife, the former Lydia Wiles of Springfield; a son, Jeffrey A. of Medford; a brother, Rodman K. of Spring Hill, Fla.; a sister, Barbara W. Bailey of Springfield; and a granddaughter. The funeral will be Tuesday afternoon at Henderson Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service.
