The son of Willard and Anna (Ware) Ware.
The husband of Jane Elizabeth Payne, who he married at Halifax, VT on Nov. 20, 1855. Samuel and Jane were the parents of Lucy E., born Sept. 19, 1857, and Mary E., born Feb. 8, 1860.
Samuel Ware was a 27 year-old Farmer from Conway, MA, when he enlisted and was mustered into service on July 10, 1862. Taken prisoner at Parker’s Store, VA on November 29, 1863, Samuel was held in prisons in Richmond, VA prior to being transferred to Andersonville. He died at Andersonville on August 10, 1864 due to Chronic Diarrhea.
