Mildred (Schloredt) Hazledine, 88, of Spearfish and formerly of Sundance, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Edgewood Vista in Spearfish.
Mildred Ware Schloredt Hazledine was born at home on August 5, 1923, daughter of William H. and Jessie Wellman Ware. Preschool days were spent on the home ranch on Buffalo Creek in Weston County, Wyoming.
The family moved to Newcastle, Wyoming and she attended school until 1933 when they moved to Sundance, Wyoming. She graduated from Sundance High School in 1941 as Valedictorian of her class.
In October 1941, she was married to Leroy “Lee” Schloredt in Newcastle, Wyoming. They made their home in Sundance where they owned and operated Lee’s Pharmacy for 37 years. She spent four years in Belle Fourche, South Dakota while her husband was serving oversees during World War II and worked at the First National Bank and the American Colloid Company.
She returned to Sundance in 1945. Five children were born to Mildred and Lee; Freddie Ware and Janet Lee in 1946, Jeanine Susan and James Steven in 1948 and Judith Louise in 1950. Freddie, James and Jeanine died in infancy.
Mildred was a confirmed member and active participant in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Sundance, served as a Lay Reader for 26 years, served as Church School Superintendent and Junior Choir Director.
She was president of the Woman’s Auxiliary several times. She was a Past Matron of Electa Chapter #5, OES and Past Member of Sahida Chapter and Daughters of the Nile.
She served as Guardian of Bethel #43, Sundance, International Order of Job’s Daughters and Grand Guardian of the Grand Guardian Council of Wyoming in 1972. She was a charter member of Beta Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, served as President and many other offices.
Her husband Lee, preceded her in death in 1994.
In 1998, she exchanged marriage vows in Spearfish, SD with James “Jim” Hazledine at the United Church of Christ where they were members. The couple made their home in Spearfish and Arizona. Her life was enriched by her church, her family, her friends and traveling.
Jim preceded her in death in 2011.
She is survived by her daughter Judy (Drew) Hutchinson of Aladdin, WY; two grandsons, Wade (Kristen) of Draper, UT and Clay (Jessica) Hutchinson of Aladdin, WY; granddaughter, Nicole (Mitch) Mather of Wilsall, MT; three great-grandchildren, Kyla Mather of Wilsall and Tyler and Alexa Hutchinson of Aladdin, WY; four nieces, Karen, Sharon, Doris and Debi and one nephew, Pete.
She is also survived by a daughter Janet (Kent) Larson of Rapid City and their three children and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Burial will follow at Green Mountain Cemetery in Sundance.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Northern Hills.
