Byron Eugene Ware

September 4, 1925 – October 2, 2016

Longtime Oregon City resident, Byron Ware, died at his daughter’s home in Estacada on Sunday, October 2, 2016. He was 91.

A graveside service with military honors will be held 1:30PM, Monday, October 10, 2016 at Willamette National Cemetery.

Byron Eugene Ware was born September 4, 1925 in Redmond, Oregon to Bert and Zelphia (VanWert) Ware. He was raised in Redmond and Madras with his two brothers, Elmer & Mervyn. He entered into the US Navy in 1951 and served in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1954. He married Betty Bartel on June 26, 1954 at her parent’s home in Redmond, OR. They made their home in Portland prior to moving to Oregon City where he was the Assistant Administrator at Willamette Falls Hospital for 23 years. After retiring, they made their home in Woodburn Senior Estates.

He loved jazz music, singing, early morning walks on the beach, dancing, fine cars and a good joke to laugh at.

He is survived by his sons, Gary & Steven; daughter Lori; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Byron is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Betty, daughter, Jenanne Eschweiler and granddaughter Jaimey Eschweiler.

Estacada Funeral Chapel is in care of the arrangements.
